The easiest way to get your music onto Spotify is by using a Distributor such as Distrokid, Tunecore, CD Baby, Symphonic, or one of the many aggregators that deliver music to digital music streaming platforms (DSPs). There are so many to choose from. Anyone can sign up and distribute music through these platforms.
How much it costs to get your music onto Spotify and other platforms like Apple Music, Tidal, etc… depends on which Distributor you use. Many of the current distributors use a yearly subscription model. Distrokid, for instance, costs $22.99 annually for the lowest “Musician” plan. Be aware of add-ons for each release. My current favorite is Beatchain. There’s no subscription, just a one-time fee to release your music and have it stay in stores forever.
It’s never been easier or more affordable to release music to DSPs, but it’s important to know all of the steps involved. It’s not as simple as just putting your music out. You will want to know how to collect all of your publishing and how to promote your releases.
